Onchan Silver Band is delighted to formally announce the purchase of new Uniforms (blue jackets) for the senior band.
The band’s original set of trademark royal blue blazers have been in use for over 30 years and have stood the test of time admirably. However, with the exciting growth of the band in recent years, the decision was taken to freshen the group’s wardrobe.
The purchase of such high-quality garments has come at a significant cost and has only been made possible through the generous support of two outside organisations. The Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust kindly took the position of primary sponsor for this venture, with the Isle of Man Arts Council also making a sizable donation to help cover the cost.
The specialist traditional blazers are viewed as something of a signature throughout the brass band community and beyond, with many bands passionately displaying their colours wherever they go. Onchan Silver Band has sported the iconic royal blue both locally and nationally for the majority of its 85 years of music making.
It is hoped that these new durable wool jackets, complete with detailed gold braiding and black accent – supplied by ‘Musicwear etc.’ – will enable a seamless transition from the band’s existing uniforms; providing continuity, along with a fresh look.
The band would like to place on record its sincere thanks to all those who have supported this exciting purchase. To both the Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust and Isle of Man Arts Council for their financial assistance, to Musicwear etc for producing the wonderful new uniforms, and also to Amoré du Plessis Photography for the professional photography showcasing Onchan Silver Band’s smart new attire.
